There are three phases in SBI PO exam. Prelims and Mains exams are conducted in online mode. Once a candidate clears Prelims exam then he/she gets eligible for Mains exam.

SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern:

The SBI PO preliminary examination is conducted in online format and candidates are allocated total duration of 1 hour to complete the preliminary exam. There are total of 3 sections with a total of 100 questions and maximum score of 100 marks. There is negative marking and 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer attempted by a candidate. No mark is deducted for the question left unanswered.

SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern:

The SBI PO Mains Exam will comprise of 4 sections namely Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, Data Analysis & Interpretation & General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, English Language. The entire paper is to be completed in a time span of 3 hours. A descriptive paper will be conducted along with the above mentioned online test. It needs to be completed in a time span of 30 minutes and the maximum marks allotted to the descriptive test is 50.

Objective Test:

The objective test of 3 hours duration consists of 4 Sections for total 200 marks. The objective test will have separate timing for every section.

Descriptive Test:

The Descriptive Test of 30 minutes duration with two questions for 50 marks will be a Test of English Language (Letter Writing & Essay).

Penalty for wrong answer: 0.25 marks will be deducted for every question attempted wrong by a candidate in SBI PO Mains Exam. No deduction will be made in marks if a question is left unattempted or blank by a candidate in the exam.

Interview Process:

A candidate who clears both the Prelims & Mains Exam of SBI PO 2020 will be further called for a GD-PI session wherein they will face a panel of selectors discussing on their past experience and questions related to General Knowledge and of the Banking Sector. It is essential for a candidate to clear the Interview Process in order to ensure their final selection in the SBI PO 2020 Exam. The qualifying marks for this round will be decided by the Bank and the marks alloted to these rounds are: Group Discussion – 20 marks, Interview – 30 marks

Final Selection:

After a candidate has gone through Personal Interviews, a merit list will be prepared by State Bank of India wherein the candidate’s score of Mains Exam and Interview Round will be taken into account. Based on the score obtained by candidates and the available vacancies, a final cut-off marks will be declared. All candidates who clear the cut-off range will be granted the Appointment Letter by State Bank of India for the post of Probationary Officer.

Pay Scale:

The beginning salary, basic pay of SBI PO is Rs. 27620. With four advance increments in the compensation size of 23700-980 (7) – 30560 – 1145 (2) – 32850 – 1310 (7) – 42020. This means the PO will get a basic of Rs. 23700 with an increment of Rs 980 for the next 7 years, followed by a basic of Rs 30560 with an annual increment of Rs 1145 for the next two years and so on. The maximum basic salary will be Rs. 42020.

The official will also be eligible for D.A, H.R.A/ Lease rental, C.C.A, Medical and other allowances & perquisites as per rules in force from time to time. The total compensation per annum on CTC basis be a minimum of 8.20 lacs and maximum of 13.08 lacs depending on place of posting and other factors.

Educational Qualification:

Graduation Degree: The eligibility criteria for the SBI exam is a graduation degree in any of the streams such as B.A., B.Com, B.Sc, B.Tech, etc., from a University recognized by the Government of India. A candidate who possesses the same qualification from the university recognized by the Central Government is also eligible to apply for this exam.

CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE A VALID MARK-SHEET / DEGREE:

The certificate which supports that they are graduates on the day they were registered for the exam.

The percentage of marks obtained in Graduation should be mentioned at the time of registration for the SBI-PO examination.

Computer Literacy: Knowledge of computer operation is a must as SBI PO exam is conducted online.

Language Proficiency: Candidates should have verbal and written proficiency in the official language of the State/UT. The candidate should be able to read, write and speak the language.

Nationality / Citizenship of Applicants:

Candidates applying for SBI PO Examination should be one of the following:

  1. Citizen of India
  2. Subject of  Nepal or  Bhutan

  3. Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement.

  4. Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India.

Candidates belonging to the category 2, 3, 4 must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Govt of India in their favour.

Age Eligibility:

Candidates applying for the SBI examination should be 21 years old but not more than 30 years old at the time of registration. Besides this, there is age relaxation relevant to category wise candidates as per the government rules:
