Preparing for the Banking Exam Interview

Step 1: Research the Bank and Position

Before you apply for a banking job, make sure you research the bank and the position thoroughly. Get to know the bank's background, offerings, executive biographies, and the position you're applying for. Before applying for a position, it is a good idea to learn as much as possible about the bank and the position in particular.

Step 2: Stay Updated on Current Affairs, Indian Economy, and General Knowledge

Get your basic knowledge, current events, and the Indian economy ready for some questions. Make sure you're up-to-date on all the latest news, not only in the financial and economic worlds, but also in sports, politics, and more. Reading the newspaper every day, especially an English-language one, will help you become a better speaker and expand your vocabulary.

Step 3: Review Your Resume Thoroughly

Most of the questions you get will probably revolve around your resume. To ensure that you know what you have written in your resume, read it thoroughly and be ready for questions on your educational background, hobbies, activities that you have listed, awards you won, and more. It would be extremely embarrassing to be caught unaware of what is written in your own resume.

Step 4: Know Your State

Interviewers may also ask you about your state and the happenings in your state. Ensure that you are aware of such detail. For example, you may be asked about the number of districts in your state. Be prepared with the answer.

Step 5: Prepare a List of Frequently Asked Questions or Potential Questions

Some commonly asked questions pertaining to what you have applied for include:

  • Tell me about yourself
  • What are your strengths and your weaknesses?
  • Why are you looking for a career in banking? Why not in IT? It is much more lucrative.
  • What are your hobbies?
  • Take me through your educational qualifications
  • Where do you see yourself 5 years / 10 years from now?
  • What is your biggest achievement/failure?
  • Importance of native place
  • For people who have worked earlier, more often than not, you will be asked why you quit your previous job.

Think of all the possible questions that can be asked and prepare a list accordingly. Then think carefully of how you will answer each of these questions. This will ensure that you are not taken by surprise during your interview.

What All You Need To Do On the Day of the Interview?

Give importance to your physical appearance. First impressions are long lasting, so make sure you are well-groomed and dressed appropriately.

Step 1: Arrive at the location thirty minutes prior to the scheduled interview time. You can unwind, gather your thoughts, and go over your notes at this time.

Step 2: Keep on hand any required documents requested by the Bank, including your resume.

Doing so will guarantee that you are well-prepared for the interview by ensuring that you have all the required paperwork and information on hand.
