Since 1988, All India Management Aptitude Testing Service (AIMATS), New Delhi conducts a Management Aptitude Test (MAT) on a national basis every year in the months of February, May, September and December. The Government of India has approved MAT as a national Entrance Test for admission to MBA and equivalent programmes. Institutes offering recognized PG programmes in management and allied fields can participate in MAT.

This particular examination is conducted in written format as well as online format. The MAT had five sections, each section of 40 questions. The total of 200 objective type questions were to be attempted over 150 min. Each correct answer will consist of 1 mark. Negative marking is applicable for this examination. Each wrong answer will take away 0.25 marks. The test structure is designed to measure the test taker’s general to solve aptitude in following areas:
